Lecture by Mike Smith H.W.U.T. 30/04/09

Postby magicjohn » Apr 21st, '09, 20:53

The Merlin is having a lecture by Mike Smith on the 30/04/09.
The venue is Little Heath Parish Hall, Thornton Road, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire EN6 1JJ.
The doors open at 7.30pm, Lecture starts at 8pm to 10pm.
Entrance is £5 for non members.
Below is some text that Mike Smith e-mailed me

H.W.U.T
Mike Smiths Hand Wash Utility Technique is the most unique and versatile
version of the hand wash to-date. With this technique you can vanish
items, produce them and hide almost any small objects whilst
showing your hands apparently empty. Cards, coins, notes,
rings, balls, pins and keys are just some of the items
that can be used. H.W.U.T is only limited to
your imagination and will turn your
effects into something truly
special.

LECTURE
The lecture is split into two parts. The first is on close-up and stand-up magic, using
cards, coins, rope and rings. The second part is on the HANDWASH routines
from the DVD. The lecture has something for everyone.

Honestly, I think it looks awful in that video.

It looks great...until he does the move. Whatever happened to naturalness.

Regarding Handwash

Postby magicjohn » Apr 21st, '09, 22:05

I have worked with Mike on many occasions & the Handwash move I personally think is good. I have seen so many variations of fake transfers in my time & some look as if the magicians hands have gone into spasm or something worse. At least with Mike's Handwash it does not look like that. I have seen his lecture at other Societies & he also shows some other lovely ideas. I respect other peoples opinions & this is mine, he is worth coming to see on the 30/04/09.

For sure I am not trying to disrespect him, he has clearly got a move he has worked hard on, but I still don't think it is convincing.

Thanks for the advance info but just one small point, please don't use bold text all the way through a post, it's really not necessary.

Mike Smith's H.W.U.T

Postby magic_mike » Apr 23rd, '09, 09:22

I would like to say a little about H.W.U.T. The handwash which i created back in the day is now being used by several professional magicians and the feedback i have been getting on the wash itself, has been all positive.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported me with the tour so far.
The handwash is best seen performed live, so if you can make the april lecture, come along and enjoy.
Melins of Wakefield are selling my DVD H.W.U.T and it is being distributed across the USA through Murphy's.
I would like to thank Lee Smith and Magic John for the positive feedback on the handwash, being professional magicians they can see the potential in the technique.
