Kolossal Killer Wallet Review Request

Postby Johnny Bravo » Oct 31st, '06, 13:33

Does anyone have a Kolossal Killer Wallet, have seen this on some sites going for around $150, so fairly pricey.
I've only recently discovered Kolossal Killer & think its a great out or stand alone effect & am really wondering more about this wallet now.

But I'd like to know if its very discreet, can you really show the wallet empty, does it look like it only has one pocket? Or is it a bit like the Stephen Tucker Wow wallet which can easily be seen as having several pockets.

Anyone? Thanks.

Killer Wallet

Postby roman59 » Oct 31st, '06, 14:45

Hi just noticed your post!

I answer to your question the KK wallet looks like a normal billfold walllet the sort that you would put in your back trouser pocket.

It is a plain black leather wallet with slots for credit cards, store cards etc.

It can be subtley shown empty after you have removed the envelope with the card inside it.

Oddly enough the envelopes look smaller than a poker sized playing card which i think sells the fact that you only have one card inside the wallet.

I too have had kk for about 6 years but this wallet makes it really workable giving you more time to work on your presentation etc.

Also it is nothing like Stephen Tuckers WOW wallet which I have sitting in a drawer at home in an unused state.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hmm... looks good...

My main niggle is: your performance of Kolossal Killer is what should do the work. Using a special wallet almost impinges on it's original greatness - ie, you can use your everyday wallet that people already recognise! Plus, much as you can show it empty, it's not going to be examinable, which really doesn't give it a massive advantage over a reg'lar wallet.

Also - what do they mean by empty? If they mean totally empty, why would you have a totally empty wallet...?! I never get hauled up when performing KK because my wallet is already stuffed with bank cards, club cards, loyalty cards, my licence, receipts etc - plenty of cover for what else needs to be in there! As for "no fumbling", does it really detract from the effect so much to take literally 3 seconds longer, and just say something like "I'm sure I put it in here somewhere..." - as long as you go straight to the place where their card is and don't actually mess up by looking in loads of other pockets, it's fine, they just assume you're finding the card amidst all the other rubbish in your wallet.

I don't have this wallet so I can't comment, but if I were you I'd save your £80 for something else... it strikes me very slightly as someone's attempt to squeeze more money out of an already great idea - it says on the Wonder Wizards website that Jeff McBride, Terry Seabrooke, Allan Ackerman, and Larry Becker all use KK - I bet they don't need the special wallet...!

Fair point... :D but they probably get sent it free just so WW can put it on the website...!

Actually, my point stands - I said "I bet they don't need the special wallet!" (ie... "to use/perform KK effectively"), and I stand by that! (As it's a subjective judgement I'm on fairly safe ground...)

I decided against the KK wallet, which at £75 I thought was a lot for an effect I basically already have.
At the mo I'm using a pimpernale notecase wallet for KK which does the job fine & instead spent my money on a Miller Miracle Wallet which should be arriving tomorrow, review to follow in the near future. :)

I had the new KK wallet and sold it. The wallet is made of very nice leather and well constructed. It has multiple pockets and a sho-gun double billfold (billfold on the top and billfold on the bottom.

The problem I had was the wallet is sooo big. It is like 4 1/2 inches wide.

It looks about 2 inches wider than a bike card (the long way) which really was not neccessary to make it so wide.

If it were a little smaller I would buy it again. I had a hard time just getting it outta my back pocket!

The truth is, yes you can do a very nice 8 card KK with almost any well made multi-pocket wallet.

For a "full" KK the KK wallet is better, unfortunately it's the size of a suitcase.

KK was originally designed to be used with your normal everyday wallet and IMHO it would be a waste of money to buy a 'special' wallet when it's not needed for KK.

Just think of the amount of books or DVds you could spend the money on instead :)

I was thinking about Larry Becker, who created his own special version of KK, complete with wallet!

While I like a lot of Larry's effects, I really didn't feel his version improved on the original.

I have recently bought a JL2 Scam wallet for the express purpose of doing a (half) KK version. Hope to post a proper review in the next few days...
