This isn;t another grilling at the royal mail (b******s ;)) but more a question for those "in the know"

I sold my hideout a while back, and sent it recorded delivery

It never arrived

I've not got the receipt

I had to refund the guy (That's £55 I'll never see again :()

Due to my not having a receipt, is it even worth putting in a claim? Or will it just be a quick jobby of "you could be lying, so bu**er off"?

Love

Hmm... if it's recorded, you'd think they'd have some idea of where it went missing.

Anyway, it's worth having a go because when something I sent went missing, they send the compensation without requiring proof of postage as a good will gesture for your first inconvenience, informing you that if it happens again they really will need to see the proof of postage.

As I presume you only sent it first class, you'll still only be able to claim £39 which is how much standard first class is insured for.

And next time Beardy, for goodness' sake, ask for a proof of postage!

It wasn't to roblane of Woodbridge perchance? I sent him my Hollow & all that arrived was an empty envelope so I refunded.

Why don't you have proof of posting? They should have given you one at the post office. In any case, even if you did have the receipt, you're only covered for up to £39 when it comes to compensation. Next time you send something worth more than £39, it's worth using special delivery because you are covered up to £500 if it goes missing. But as Farlsy said, it's worth asking for compensation even if you don't have proof of posting. The worst that can happen is they refuse.

By the way, recorded signed for just means you get a signature on delivery. It doesn't mean they can track the item and it stands just as much chance of going missing than standard first or second class post.

No it wasn't roblane sir

And in that case, I may well just send it off. Nothing to lose, after all!

Unless that gets lost in the post as well ;)

But if it was sent recorded, they too (the post office) will have a record of the item and should be able to trace it, even if you've lost your copy of the receipt.
