I Suppose the most obvious one he did was out of anneman, but it wasnt that.

This wasnt a classic book it is an obscure mentalism book.

I watched the show lastnight. I must admit I do agree with posts about the first half. I hadn't read this post until today, so i didn't realise that others were thinking the same.

It wasn't too bad in my opinion. We have remember we're all watching it through magician eyes instead of the eyes of a lay audience. So maybe thats why the first half seemed a little less dramatic than his usual brand of mentalism. Still highly enjoyable though.

The second half was great! Very entertaining, and the ending is superb. Definately more 'Derren-like' in its execution. Mr Brown was even kind enough to hang around at the end of the show and sign autographs....I even got Coops to sign my programme too. Cool.

All in all it was a good night, and a nicley put together show. 9 out of 10

i went to see derren last night, and it was really very good. and was nice to be greeted by 'coops' at the entrance, i shook his hand and said hello and that - and he was very surprised that somebody knew he was lol. hmm yes it didnt have all the hype from the previous shows at the begining but was still very good and entertaining.and i really liked the whole 'psychic' theme. at one point in the show i really had to cringe as derren flashed something - no not that ;) . but something that a handful of the audience noticed as well, so i really felt bad for the guy - but he very professionally carried on without the slightest care,

mind boggling

I feel sorry for him too. All he has is his fame, wealth, good looks, a couple of websites and published books, his own theme tune, the credibility to perform magic tricks and still have it attributed to mental manipulation and having, in the eyes of the laymen all psychological based mentalism renamed 'That Derren Brown stuff'.

Not to mention, the girl I took to the show confessed her love for him right there on stage, and has since made it her life's ambition to 'convert' him to heterosexuality and Mormonism.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

Was this the Lowry show on Saturday, or did it happen again? lol

I was at the Saturday show - did she fake the trance to get up there and seduce him? :D

I really loved the show - I thought some tricks kind of negated others; the ending pretty much discounted the entire word disassociation sequence (but the ending was great so it's kind of justifiable, I guess), but it was definitely an incredible piece of theatre and I loved every minute of it. And on top of that, I was one of the faces in the Guess Whom pack. Result.

The only thing that I found at all disagreeable were the two self-proclaimed magicians I overheard - I was sat a few rows in front of a guy who spent the entire interval educating everyone in earshot on the methods involved, and qualified it all with "I'm a magician and I can safely say", followed by a load of rubbish that nobody wanted to hear. Then on the way home, somebody on the tram was giving similar speeches to anyone who would listen, how he could have replicated everything he'd seen and lord knows what else. There was more than a hint of bitterness in it, which struck me as rather ugly. I suppose it's to be expected if you make a success of yourself, which is rather sad.

That aside, I've got more than a passing interest in his work and I think it was incredible. Didn't quite blow my mind like Evening of Wonders did - I don't think I even want to know how he did the Oracle act, especially the second half of it - but all round it was an excellent show. Excellent pacing, very funny and incredibly enjoyable.

Ha ha I thought it was your mate who confessed her Love for him Harry!

I think this show as a more "fun" feel to it than the others and is as entertaining as any of his others if not more so. I was with a none magician and they had a great time too.

He did have a couple of jokes that were a bit too close to the knuckle though which I hope he drops from now on because other wise it was a great night out.

Yes it was the Saturday show, and No, she was genially in a trance. She told me she remembered nothing till she finished the chair suspension, and remained in a dream like state while confessing her love (we held a pact that whomever got on stage would admit their love for him and hope for the best, I didn't think she was going to go through with it, but good for her, she did.)

Amazingly she wore a sparkly coat in the hope of catching his attention, but all it did was make her recognisable afterwards, and a few people asked if she was a stooge. Which is a bit silly, cause you don't have stooges say memorable things like that.

She convinced me to wait out back after the show for an autograph, and I'm glad she did. He was a very nice guy, He saw her and said a quite cheerful 'Hello' and gave her an autograph stating 'I love you too, Derren Brown' which in my mind simply fuelled the flames of her mania.

Hahahaha, that's awesome.

People asking her if she was a stooge though, that's kind of crazy. Even if she was, did they think she'd just say "yep, totally"?

Aargh! There's STILL seats available at the Adelphi on my birthday. I was sort of hoping they'd sell out and I wouldn't have to agonise over the decision.

What should I do?

Saw the show in Oxford last night - any rough edges in the first half had been well and truly smoothed out and I'd say it was probably the best show he's done so far - and the the earlier ones were of an extremely high standard! The end of show 'whammy' was worth the price of the ticket alone!

I saw the show in Wolverhampton and thought it was great. To echo most other reviewers the second half was by far the best.

I don't want to spoil the show for anyone else so I'll be coy in my question...

Did he do an impression of an infantile cartoon character for every show or was it just the one I saw? Half the audience we're in histerics and the other half clearly had no idea who he was mimicking, was a good moment!

Really looking forward to the DVD release so I can watch it again!
