Bicycle seconds - no longer available

Postby Wishmaster » May 28th, '09, 17:45

I've just contacted MagicBox UK to let them know of a SQL error on the site when I searched for Bicycle seconds. They say they've just been informed today that Bicycle are no longer making them available for sale.

Typical. I was going to order 10 packs!

I wonder, does that mean that their production methods are now so perfect, there will be no seconds - or they're just not selling them any more? Probably having a bad effect on sales of perfect decks :D .

I've found a brand of cards so amazing, they make all kinds of Bikes feel like slabs of concrete.

Muhaha.

No, not really. Just go to Costco

I wondered the same thing. If their sales of seconds were through the roof, it would probably make sense to stop supplying them, knowing people will still buy at full price.

That's a shame. No doubt USPCC have stopped sales because it was affecting their profits.

That is a real shame, I'm quite glad that I bought up quit a few packs a while back and have still got a load left. I dont' do all that much card work so they should last me a while yet.

Bicycle Seconds

Postby Allen Tipton » May 30th, '09, 13:08

Keith Bennett in Birmingham always eemed to be able to obtain them.
Worth a try

Personally I loathe Bikes! So many times when performing, I found any children in the room always said, ' Oh those are magic cards from the Magic Shop!!!'
Too many visits to Disney World!

I have heard from a number of magicians that Bikes seem to wear out quicker than other cards. It was on one of the Forums, about 18 months/2 years ago.

They just do not suit my hands.

If I want to buy any card effect these days, I won't buy it if it's sold with Bike stock. That severely limits my spending!!!
I make exceptions IF I can convert the effect to Aviator or Fox Lake.

USPCC used to sell decks where the cards were slightly inperfect or where the printing was less clear. The cards were good enough for card games and practising but supposedly not up to full quality for magic.

The quality difference usually is not that different. Certainly not anything spectators are going to care about. On most of the decks it's just that the positioning isn't exactly center. You get the odd pack where they are faded or something that might bother you. There normally a quid or more cheaper. If you are practising tricks where lots of cards are going to be destroyed they serve another purpose.
