Thats a reall shame, I know you really wanted to join the RAF. Join the salvation army instead no fitness test.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Any reason you wanted to go in to the RAF over the navy or army?

Because they get treated better?

M8 - Use the 6 months wisely, if you want a training program, let me know.

Tough luck, but fair play to you for going for it. I presume you'll go for it again in six months. Now you know what you're facing you'll get it if you want it.

I chose the RAF over army and navy as I have always wanted to be in the RAF, I spent 4 years as an Air cadet and yes the RAF treat you much much better.

although the RAF regiment is primarily a defensive unit it is more and more becoming an attacking unit due to the fact that the infantry do not receive enough training (20 or so weeks) where as the RAF reg do 29 weeks basic training then a further 7 weeks operational training.

Although I have been given a minimum 6 months if I still do not think I am ready I can wait anythign upto the age of 29 (I wouldn't but I could)

I would be interested in a training program but alas I can not afford to pay for one to be made up.

Iain....not all the RAF is to do with aeroplanes...ok we defend them every now and again but it is more about blowing up and shooting *removed by author* with a very wide range of weapons (larger than the armies array).

Watch it there smithy allthough its bit of slang used in the forces, some people may get upset at such a term being used.

A Couple of points.
1. Careful how you say things on a public forum (As was said^)

2. The infantry does get enough training, the "Rock Apes" only get to be a more aggresive force, when there isnt enough troops to actually do the job (ie Patrolling, the only place they patrol is around the airfields)

3. They dont have bigger, better and more weapons (unless you count the ones on Planes/heli's)

4. I am back in work in 1 week remind and i shall write you up a full, and proper training program (For nothing)

Here Endeth the lesson. :D
