Hey from Iceland

Postby digifer » Jun 8th, '09, 23:36

Hey, all.
I'm Nonni, a hobbyist from Iceland. I performed a lot as a kid, and went as far as applying for apprenticeship with the most famous magician in Iceland (the most famous of the three publicly performing magicians at the time, it's a small country).

I've got kids of my own now and the elder is very interested in magic. So I'm starting him on his path now and am myself starting to perform for aquaintances again, trying to find my inner performer, as it were.

Very happy to be here!

Welcome to TM! I love Iceland and the people there are so friendly, even though beer costs a fortune. And they eat cute fluffy puffins.

Now can we have our millions of pounds back please?

Thanks for the welcome :-)

The stoner: Come back soon! The beer is starting to be cheap here for you visitors. The going rate used to be 6 pounds, but now it's less than 3. Also it looks like you'll be getting the money that was stolen from you. With some exorbitant interests as well!

I guess the bad news is that I never saw your money, and I'm paying it back :? The biggest vanishing coin act in history, I guess... I wish I could pull that one off. *snigger*

Hiya and welcome to TM :D

I usually inflict my pigeon Danish on new Scandinavian members but I think Icelandic is quite different, so I'll stick to English I think :D

Hi Nonni,

Welcome to the forum. It's a nice place to meet people and talk about this obsession! :D

Was beer really £6 per pint??!? Wow, that's nearly up to London prices. You tend to find people who live in the south of England are a bit soft and charge ridiculous amounts of money for flat beer. We up North are more hardy and probably as used to Icelandic weather as you are :P

The world is definitely getting smaller. Isn't the Internet amazing?!

All the best,
Wishmaster

PS Your English is fantastic. Do they teach it in schools or did you learn another way?

Hi Nonni,

It certainly is a fine forum. A very high signal to noise ratio, compared to the forums I've seen :-)

I do have fondness for the flat beer of south England, even if it makes them soft ;-)

The internet is amazing. Like I said above, as far as I know there were only around 3 performing magicians when I was growing up, and now there are around 20 or so. I think in no small part due to the internet.

Thanks! I blame undubbed English (and USian) TV :-) I guess I also have unorthodox interests, which led me to read quite a lot in English as well.
