I don't like the Henning Nelms book but not becaue it is dated. Because it is a load of cobblers.
And neither do I like the Maximum Entertainment book by Ken Weber. However I have no idea why I don't like it and it is bothering me. I keep trying to like it but somehow can't manage it. I just can't put my finger on it.
Perhaps he comes across as too pleased with himself and that plus the fact that he mentions other magicians by name in a disrespectful manner has something to do with it. This seems to distract me from the points he makes somehow. And the points he makes seem on the surface to be valid but for some reason I have my doubts and I am not sure why I have my doubts. Call it gut feeling.
Another old and valuable little booklet from the olden days is "Showmanship and Presentation" by Edward Maurce published by Goodliffe. God alone knows where you will get a copy though.

possibly martin breese - as he used to work for/with Goodliffe, and took on most of his stuff when he passed on...
