Super Magnet

Postby Johnny Bravo » Feb 19th, '05, 15:30

The Effect
This is the strongest Magnet we have ever seen 2"x2"x1" the effects you can perform with this magnet
are endless ,you can make 2p coins move on your hand ,stand on edge by their self. hold 2 metal objects in the magnetic field and they will stick together they don't even have to touch the magnet.
Have it strapped to your leg under a table, or in a camera case on your belt,(REMOVE CAMERA FIRST) or maybe on your wrist.
Put it a close up case you only need to be within 4"to perform some effects.
Put a large needle in a cigarette place on you hand ,now pass over the super mag and watch it stand on end.
The effects are endless and easy to find just play with any metal items near to the super mag.

Review
I thought I'd review this here as I found no reviews elsewhere so it might help a few of you to decide if you want one or not.
This is one powerful beast. (Accidentally put it within a couple of feet of my PC monitor, (Der!) realised very quickly when everything went purple. Luckily a quick Degauss solved the problem.)

Range wise I've used this through wooden tables approx half inch or so thick, no problem, it will grab any thing metallic. Lovely to see a 2p stand up on end.
Stop a watch within a 2" - 3" range.
My current fav is to force a shimmed card, cut it to the middle & then watch the deck split to the point of the card.

I'm sure there's a thousand other uses, maybe if anyone has any ideas they can post them here (or feel free to PM me)

Overall
Bloody powerful magnet, shame that is didn't come in a bag or with any straps but not to much hassle to get ones own made.
Can't give this an out of 10 as it aint a magic trick but if the kind of tricks above appeal then get this.

I agree wholeheartedly.

You can go and buy a whole PK kit with instructions, but why? It's nearly twice the price on most magic sites!

If you have a good imagination and a lot of showmanship and this beauty strapped on to your leg you become almost godlike!

A must for those 'sitting at table' type people !

'Gimme a shim and I rule the world !! '

Great reactions had from all I have shown this stuff too....especially if you put the coin on THEIR hand and make it rise!!!!! Or in a glass or ash tray and do things in a 'seance' way !

Two things:

1) DON'T do the watch stopping thing!! I used to, until I heard that some watches (usually the more expensive ones) won't restart, and will require expensive mending. It's not worth the risk.

2) Shimmed matches by our very own Tom Lauten can be bought here. I just got some and can vouch for the quality of workmanship - far better than most of us could do ourselves.

So you've got it strapped to your leg, put a coin in THEIR hand, and made it move... I'm figuring that you have to get REAL close to your spectators to do that.

I can see it now: "Just bring your hand here to my thigh, young lady..."

Who needs DVDs to help us 'flirt' with magic, eh?

Now Zack - If I could only get rid of that damn table between my leg and her hand...........

;) Will leave you to your devious thoughts.... lol

But as JB said it will quite happily work through tables (about 1/2" or so thick) but what he didn't make clear is that you can't do it (am i opening myself up for another comment!! (!) ) standing up! Seated is best and must be at a table (to hide the gimmick)!!

As for the watch thing.....yep.....be a bit careful...DO NOT DO IT to a chronograph type watch that has independant hand movements (ie if it looks like it has press buttons on the side or fancy dials on the face DON'T DO IT !!)...

However, a 'normal' tick tock watch with just a crown is fine (!) And (so far) I have never heard of one not start again even after 10 or 20 seconds of 'stopping'.

Any experiences of other watches would be good to hear (ie ones to avoid)

I agree this is a thing of terrifying beauty (to borrow a phrase from Mr. Maven), but a word of warning from someone that knows. If you have this loaded on your thigh. Please be careful not to walk too close to any cars...

trust me...

And never have such a thing in your jeans when entering an elevator with blank metal walls inside. You will not be able to leave the elevator at your desired floor.

Cars........I had a few..... lol

And don't walk around Comets or Currys through their TV and Video section too closely without having a trip back to the psychadelic 60's as all the screens 'mellow' out :)

By the way, before anyone smart replies (!) yes digital watches don;t stop for no-one!!!!!
