After Royal Road - Daryl or Wesley James

Postby neil_the_newbie » Jun 15th, '09, 15:35

Please could someone advise which would be best to proceed onto next:
Either Daryl's Encyclopedia of Card Sleights or Expert at the Card Table (DVD set) Artifice Ruge & Subterfuge by Wesley James.

I'm looking to invest lots of time in cards and am looking to do it in a structured and progressive manner so any advice on which dvd set i should go for would be much appreciated chaps (and ladies!)
Many thanks in advance.

I'm taking a guess here that you mean a dvd version of Royal Road.

If your talking about the book, id say that entertaining at the card table, Royal road's sister publication, would be a good one.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Don't got with the Wesley James set. It's a bad bad move.

Go with RP Wilson'd DVD set accompanied by the book.

Agreed - the "Real Hustle" Wilson one is the way to go for sure.

The Royal Road gives you a fair set of skills, so I would suggest that rather than go deeper into cards, a basic introduction to coins or some other area of magic might be appropriate. Bobo's Modern Coin Magic would be the next logical step.

I've just about finished going through RP Wilsons version myself, just going to go through now to pick up extra tricks. It's a great companion to the book I'll back that one very firmly!

Card College sounds like a book bet. It goes into more depth than Royal Road and has a few good effects.

If it's specifically cards you're interested in then Roberto Giobbi's Card College is an excellent investment. For a bit of everything then Mark Wilson's Complete Course In Magic is also highly recommended!

Did I beat lady of mystery to that recomendation for once!?
