Spider or fly...

You see a fly caught in a spiders web - Do you set the fly free, or let the spider go hungry?

Its the same thing.

Perhaps you want to reword that.

I think it's one of those glass half full-type questions that is meant to reveal something about the respondent. I assume it's political bias - e.g. left-leaners see it is liberating a defenseless individual from tyranny and entrapment, right-leaners see it as depriving a worker of what they've earned? Something like that?

Spider every time. Bound to say so. And you should check the logic of your premise.

Personally I'd kill 'em both. With fire.

It would not occur to me to involve myself on such a level. It's not a question of freeing flies or feeding spiders.

And the question doesn't make sense, as has been pointed out.

I would eat both of them, just to teach them a lesson...

I'd copy Jean Eugene Roberts' advice.

Funnily enough I just killed a massive spider sitting on my wall. Could feel it crunching up underneath the tissue, NICE!

Really ?

It never occurred to me that someone would be posting a philosophical riddle. I just took it literally.

I wonder what that says about me ... hmmm.

As has been pointed out, it's the same thing, so there is no choice in the question as stated.

What I would do is to observe the spider munch on the hapless fly, and marvel at the cruelty of nature.

Would you let the fly go free simply because you were there at the moment you saw it struggling in the web knowing that a few minutes after you leave another fly would get tangled in the web?

Neither since I dislike flies and appreciate spiders getting rid of them. Unless they're in the house or in my way.

Seeing as I am bored and have already read the post that doesn't make sense in the first place.

First I would call PETA and let them know of the act of cruelty going on. Then I would put on my leather boots and jacket while waiting for PETA to arrive. (because I just don't like the organization as they are not out for the welfare of animals at all).

Then I would let the hunter devour its prey, because that is all that is happening, then I would watch as a bird ate the spider, only to watch the cat take down the bird, no worries though because I also have a husky.
