A cheesy reference to cluedo needed!

Postby Beardy » Jun 20th, '09, 20:55

Hey guys

I need a cheesy name instead of cluedo, but very very similar to cluedo

So far the suggestions have been "Clued!...oh" and "Clue don't" but neither are what I am after

It has to be either a small funny gag, or something with a direct reference to mind-reading

Either way, it has to be a very obvious cluedo reference

Any ideas?

Cheers!

Love

Chris

I LOVE clue-do, that's the exact sort of thing I'm after. Definitely in the lead! Any other ideas anybody?

would it be possible for you to explain the basic premise of the trick from teh spectator point of view? that might help to think of a more suitable name. of course i can understand not wanting to say anything if its in development, just asking.

Oh it's not for the script, just the patter. It's an effect based on cluedo, and this is, in the patter, 'my version of cluedo' ;)

It might already have been suggested (I can't be certain from the way you've typed the initial suggestions), but how about 'Clue Doh!' (as in Homer Simpson's catchphrase), accompanied by you slapping the palm of your hand to your forehead each time?

Play on 'Cluedo', pop culture reference and running gag all in one. You might also get some mileage from making out it's a version even you can play (I wouldn't advise suggesting the audience is too stupid to play the regular version, but you might take the risk).

How about a Homer Simpson Clue-DOAH!?

Coming up with a cute play on terms would be much easier if the premise of your routine were better known. In the above example I could see some role-play fun with audience members playing the famed Simpson Characters and solving a crime taking place in Springfield. On the other hand, you could have patrons create "clues" out of Play-Dough which gives you CLU-DOUGH.

A Ghostly Tale tied to a WWI soldier might be seen as "The Clue of the Dough boy"... but then, you could do the same if you were using Pillsbury products

With Food & Law Enforcement/Investigation connections the clue could be pastries e.g. you have Clu-dough-nut... every constable's favorite survival food.

Though you have the slang associated with money as being "bread" and/or "dough", I'm certain you can play around with that thought and make something jell as well.

Best of luck!
