Well i started using the rubber end of a pencil and rubbing it till i could see it split which seemed to work but its very fiddly.

even with snapping it you dont always get a split end.

but hey im killing time and it give me something to do

you can also use a rubber band wrapped around your finger.

Yeah, I tried using the rubber end of a pencil and it didn't seem to split. Although it doesn't split every time you break off a piece. I only break off 2cms and once it splits, you can pull off as much as you want.

Have you managed to tie a loop with a thin strand of the black yet?

yeh ive been tying lots of them! i dont always get 3 out of a strand because i end up ruining one or sometimes two but im getting the practice and im getting better!

i actually have like 15 backups on an index card and wedges inside a journal to keep em safe.

i hope i can always order more once ive made like a 1000!!!
