I'm not a fan of the ipods, so i have a far more attractive creative zen player...one of the new models...

anyway - i was merrily downloading some albums last night from amazon - until my broadband went kapput...back online ce soir, and my downloads had expired...

i emailed amazon about only downloading half of what i ordered, and guess what...

an email back 10 minutes later, giving me fresh and dandy new links to the two albums i didnt manage to download yesterday....

no phone calls, no fuss, no extra proof needed - sorted...

and more importantly - they have some genuinely hard to find old 60s stuff in their catalogue...good on ya amazon...

Amazon's customer service is fantastic when things go wrong. But then they can afford to rectify problems with no questions asked; I guess any fraud that goes on can just be absorbed. Many smaller companies take a real hit when orders go astray in the post and they have to resend. Not suggesting you're a fraudster, by the way. Just saying.

Last time I contacted Amazon about a lost item, they sent a replacement which I received the day after emailing them about it. Impressive indeed. Play are pretty good, too.

Had the same experience with Amazon, I can only assume they check the e-mail address you send from against the account it's registered too.

lawrence- try a mixture of "format factory" - (free software) and RealPlayer..

i dont do it myself, but it should work...

I've still got me trusty Zen Vision M 30Mb player. Wonderful bit of kit and a joy to watch movies on. I don't like iPoos at all. All hype and no substance, like everything from Apple (wait for the flames to start!) .

It's nice to hear about good service too. I've always liked dealing with Amazon. The best one for me was at the back end of last year when THE thing to buy was the Wii Fit. My missus decided she wanted one (bloody typical woman). So, I spent weeks and weeks scouring all the websites and no dice. Until, some kind soul pointed to Amazon Germany of all places. I used an online translation site and a comparison of Amazon UK's pages to work out what buttons to click in German etc.

Anyway, I logged into the German Amazon site with my UK login credentials (which really surprised me) and got the Wii Fit ordered. I paid £10 for delivery, but the normal rrp of £70 for the item itself. This was on a Tuesday afternoon. It was shipped from Germany to my front door and arrived on Friday the same week. I was floored. Superb!

Needless to say, I got lots of brownie points with The Boss Woman too. Awesome (as TheStoner would say).

I listen to my iPod all day at work, from 6 in the morning when I step out of my house til quarter past 6 in the evening when I step in my house. 120 Gb aswell, can hold like 30,000 songs and something like 50 full length movies!!

MP3 Players, the greatest invention of the 21st Century!!

As for the iPhone, I haven't got one, but have been thinking of getting one recently. I had the brilliant Nokia 3310 up until I lost it at the Derby Day a few weeks ago, and now I have some other Nokia. It's actually really good! I don't have to delete my inbox/outbox twice a day anymore!!

As this thread has gone off on a tangent, I'll join in...

I was determined not to be an iSlave after the death of my second iPod, so I bought a Creative Zen 30gb.

The buttons are a bit hard to press, the touch pad bit is generally a bit cr@p, and there are some weird and annoying workings afoot (I like being able to make and edit playlists on the go, but there's some clunky functionality elsewhere).

I kind of wish I'd gone for another iPod I think it's a bit rubbish that to say mp3 players have been out for so long, no one else has been able to come close to such an intuitive and user friendly system. Every time someone gets into my car and goes to put on some music, it's like "I'll stick on your i-... oh... ok, how do I do this... oops, I pressed... er... what do I... hmm... can I just put my iPod on?!"

i think you've hit the nail on the head though - potentially onto your 3rd ipod?

never had one one spot of bother with my zen(s) - i upgraded once, and sold the first one on....

and may i add, better sound quality to the zen in my opinion...

and the bigger screen helps when watching movies and other clips...

You need to grind them up into a fine powder and carefully pour them into the player's headphone socket. I recommend using a small funnel for that bit.

I've used Apple stuff since late 2004 when I got my first iPod and my first Mac (both still working) and have never had any problems with any of it, nor have I found it to be unreasonably priced when compared to similar items on the market.
