The Young Magician of the Year competition is held every 2 years, and the next one is in 2005. This competition is focused on stage magic, and so far I haven't heard of any close-up entrants. if you are thinking of close-up things, I would steer towards the Young Close-up Magician of the Year (or something like that). You basically have to present a 10 minute act or whatever type on the stage at the MC headquarters and if you win, you weill gaine automatic entry to the Magic Circle at 18 with MIMC top your name and the first 2 years subscription charges waived.

What is young? Is there an age limit, or is it just new to the game?

I believe that it goes up to the age of 18,
but be aware, that it is Stage magic

As a member ot the YMC i can tell you the competition is open to YMC members only( 11 - 18 ) It is a stage oriated competition but i suppose they could use the camera and projecter to show close up. This years competition is on the 3rd of april. Tickets are £4 and available on 020 7387 2222 from the first of march. A brilliant commpetitin with a very high standard of Magic. If you wanted close-up as a proper competition go with the junior day close up competition.
