Branching Out

Postby storm01 » Jul 8th, '09, 20:42

I've only ever been interested in close up magic/mentalism effects before, and although i am no Derren, Luke or Lennart, I can entertain for half an hour or so at family gatherings and local get togethers.

Now then, I am thinking of taking, what for me would be a massive step, and applying stage magic to monthly team briefings, which I organise for my employees at work.

There are normally between 6 and 10 people which regularly sit there and listen to me waffle on with boring presentations about work related matters, and to be honest these briefings need spicing up a little.

Now I've thought of introducing lap/belly/pole dancers but the ladies at the brief probably wouldnt appreciate my humour.

Anyway I've decided to bring my hobby to work and mystify my colleagues.

What i am looking for, is any advice on what you think would be suitable in this type of environment.

Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

well, i would say this is more of a parlour setting, rather than a full on stage thing...

however, the nice thing about parlour is that it gives you more leeway with pre-s***, and instant stoogery...and a dash of dual reality too...

so really, that also means you can do "more" of what you already do - so it'll feel less scarey for you...

so think about two person telepathy effects, multiple design dupes at once...a couple of psychological forces, and - though i dont use them myself, magic square seems made for this kind of thing really...

its about amplifying what you do already...dont see it as a giant leap, see it as just a step on...

6-10 people will work well with a hoy book test, and pretty much anything from annemann...

and if its going to be at work, just think about swopping the items you'd usually use for ones laying around the office...keep the "props" natural and off you go...

have fun...

oh and if you're forcing things, you could make your final slide of your presentation a prediction/confabulation style ending too...
