ok dont laugh at this one

So the past few months, I've been rather busy. My band is slowly getting work done, I'm in school, I'm slowly getting better at card magic. O and I've been training to be a professional wrestler.

I'm supposed to work my first event in just a few weeks, and I'm working as a face(good guy) meaning that I have to work the crowd, get them pumped up, get the kids in the crowd super excited, and basically be an all around likeable persona...truth be told, its harder than it sounds. Anyway, I was thinking it might be kind of cool to maybe do a quick, flashy trick or two as I come out of the curtain. I was originally going to get flash rings(i think thats what they're called) but the fire code wont let me. I was experimenting last night with running around pulling coints out of kids ears, but I kept dropping them with all the comotion and excess activity going on.

So my question is, is there any kind of small, simple trick that I can do as I come down the entranceway to help establish myself as a good guy?

Some sort of geek thing? Wrestling audiences seem to like all the smashing things on your head and making yourself bleed stuff. There's lots of things you could explore there.

I took a couple of boxing fights last year, and I came on to the tune You Fat b*****, blowing flame. Unfortunately it went downhill from there. But I did finish in the top two in all my fights.

ok mr flaw couple of things that come right off the bat are color changing masks, from behind a cloth and apearing cane/ fire to cane.
also consider bag to cape / bag to flag or infact anything you like the workings of the change meen you can have your own designs made up.
if your persona is a magician then you can produce many items from your top hat with a flash gimick and hand it off to an assistant as yhou make your self to the ring, even a flower silk that will alow you to produce a few boques of flowers would fit the bill, you can alway give them to your confederates in the audience on the runway and include a few compressed flowers for your adauring fans.

I was interested in being a wrestler many moons ago but my condition put the kibosh on that, trouble is i look like an old clappped out wrestler, complete with all the joint pain and limp and i'd been happy to "juice" myself till the cows came home. :D
we have a fair continjunt of wrestlers in my area, baby faces and shills and a few freaks (300lb ders) and some who know me often ask if a wrestled as a masked wrestler, a nicer bunch of guys you'd be hard pressed to find but be prepared to be "ribbed" often its part of the culture and is not intentional and definatly should not be taken personaly.
anyway iv'e wanderd off subject so i'll just say stay safe, take your bumps, have fun and the day you stop learning the trade... retire.

What's your gimmick, and what do you wear/bring to the ring?

Shame that fire effects are out, as these would probably have been your best bet. To be honest, I think you'd be better off doing without a trick. If it's announced as your very first bout, surely you should be able to work the crowd using that? I'd have thought pulling coins from ears, or producing a bottle would detract from the excitement.

If your gimmick is a wrestling magician, do something very visual. The discoman's made some good suggestions. Coloured silks can be seen from some way off, and can probably be carried even if your costume is just trunks. Although if that's all you will be wearing, I am not sure about the steal...

D-lites ?

Its a sort of modern day wrestling with fire, only you're playing with lights.

also it can be seen from a distance whch is much better than any jumbo cards or other large props. Its easy to ditch. You control the timing of the effect to finish when you have made your entrance.

Could be really effective if you get the lighting guys to dim the lights.

Do something simple like disappearing a silk then slipping the TT to someone...coach? I dont know much about wrestling but you could drop it where people wouldnt see it or pass it on to someone?
