Houdini by Clinton Cox, is one of the many biographies on Houdini
It is 190 pages, and the most fascinating biography I have ever read. It does not teach his effects or anything, but it is the history of Houdini.
If you are interested, you could probably find the book at a library
I just finished reading it; He was a fascinating man.

Just a quick tip for your reviews... there's a review template that sometimes makes it easier to review books, effects, DVDs etc that you want to tell everyone about.
Just copy and paste it from
here!
Easy-peasy!
