There hasn't been any discussion on last weeks' five-part Torchwood saga. And I'm glad, cos I didn't get the chance to watch it until now.

Bleedin' eck! I thought it was fab!

Absolute genius on the production side - the BBC slashed their budget, so they made a quality five-part miniseries instead of 13 separate stories. And it was all the better for it. Very smartly written, and much more involving than any self-contained 45-minute episode ever could be.

I'd always found Torchwood to be a bit hit-and-miss until now. Children of Earth was fantastic - albeit gnarly and uncompromising.

I reckon it was the best of all the series so far Despite the high death rate for Torchwood employees, the Beeb are talking of another series in 2010 - this year's ofering will be a tough act to follow.

We were in Cromer for the final episode and noticed that colour of the local buses was sacrily similar to the ones used to cart all those kids off to their doom !

Personally I felt the last episode was a bit sick and left me feeling rather disturbed. So much co that I strongly recommended several friends of mine who were half way through on iplayer not to watch the final episode.

I really enjoyed it. Yes the final episode was uncompromising, but I'm glad. The whole point was that sometimes tough decisions have to be made for the "greater good", but the ramifications on a personal level for such decisions can be awful.

For one awful moment I thought the Doctor was going to turn up and save the day!

Absolutely. The whole point of Torchwood was to be darker and more 'adult' than Doctor Who could be. Until now, that's pretty much amounted to being camp and risque. This time round they made it intelligent and horrible. I loved it.

Speaking as a father with young kids anything I watch these days with horrible things happening to children I empathise with. I'm now way more sensitive than I used to be when I didn't have kids.

That's exactly the same for me. I used to be a huge fan of any and all horror genres. Now I'm much more selective, as there's only so much I can stomach. Creature Features are often my limit these days...

I remember going to see The Orphanage at the cinema, thinking it was one of the best haunted house movies I'd ever seen, but also deciding there and then that I never ever wanted to watch it again.

But sometimes there's something very theraputic about being put through the wringer.

Excellent film, did you see the Spanish version or was it a Hollywood remake?

The Spanish version.

I'm not aware of a Hollywood remake. Although if there isn't one, it's just a matter of time. I might even watch it, as it's sure to have a happy, life-affirming and vomit-inducing ending.
