Del Toro should be given Alice in Wonderland...

he should also direct:
Elric - the M. Moorcock stories
Batman, and
any remake of The Elephant Man...

Yes, cannot wait!! :D

I spent the last ten years hoping that Sir Tim would get the opportunity to direct one of the Harry Potter movies. That's not going to happen now, and I need therapy. What a missed opportunity.

Agree!! It would have been a perfect match

I wouldnt want to see that. Would be a waste of his time, in my opinion.
He talent is better spent else where. Not on a bandwagon book and film series.

But I am look forward to Alice in Wonderland.

I agree with Pete; Burton's work is very hit and miss, in my opinion. His Alice will either be excellent or complete and utter rubbish.

I tend to enjoy Burton's films and am looking forward to this; come on 2010.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

I loved it, though I can see how Johnny Depp's David Bowie meets Dick Van Dyke accent would put many people off.

I love Burton, but can't understand why he's fallen into a bit of a formula with his movies. Johnny Depp, Helena BC, and Danny Elfman doing the music. Come on Tim, there's other talent out there too!!!

I remember seeing a documentary where it explained how directors tend to choose a lead actor that they see as a more attractive version of themselves.

Johnny Depp is how Tim Burton imagines himself as he could be, so in a roundabout way it's pure vanity and he likes to cast himself as the lead!

Also it could be argued that if you have a winning formula and can work well with a group of actors then what's the point in changing it?

I liked Sweeny Todd but I liked the stage show before it was a movie too. It was amusing seeing many Johnny Depp fans walking out of the cinema 30 minutes in because they couldn't cope with something that was not a Hollywood blockbuster.

The last 3 films i've watched at the flicks have been Public Enemies, Looking For Eric and Synedoche New York.

The one thing that links these films? At every showing at least one person walked out never to return. It's nowt to do with me, it's not personal hygiene or anything, i was just suprised that firstly they didnt know what they were in for ( Public Enemies is a Michael Mann film, you should know by now, Looking For Eric is Ken Loach, nuff said, and Synedoche New York is Charlie Kaufman.......it isnt a Michael Bay film now is it? ), and secondly they've paid the price of a cinema ticket, which i think is so steep its practically vertical, and then walked out of it.

People eh.
