Personally, I thought that this was a disapointing DVD - not one of Pearlman's best.

In terms of difficulty it may be worthwhile pointing out that most of the routines are around 3 to 4 out of 5 and definately not one for the beginner.

Yea I guess,
The only thing I have trouble with is card vanishing and berthram change.
I am starting to get them down though.
And i agree, the effects arent that good, but I cant compare because it is my only Pearlman dvd

For beginners to intermediate levels I would recommend Oz Pearlman's born to Perform Card Magic and there are plenty of threads with info on this particular DVD so I won't start another.

The production is much better than stealing pips! There's only so much card stuff that I can take and never do more than three or four in any routine. They therefore have to be good ones and although Oz's are good for learning, they're not ones that I'd include in a routine

I thought this dvd was really good, and ic3 is one of my favourite effects. Would agree that this is not for the begginer though. The sac move is wicked.

SAC is OK if you're able to work at a table with plenty of room, but I regard this as a pretty severe limitation. Overall I was disappointed with the contents of this DVD. As a side note I found it incredibly irritating to navigate as the menus don't seem very logical and the chaptering is very haphazard.
Hmmm. The original post is less a review and more a cut and paste of the ad copy from Penguin's website.

Not so bad

Postby Bcfaigg » Mar 15th, '05, 16:48

OK, I think this dvd is pretty good - to repeat what has already been said on here, the SAC move and the Bertram change make the dvd worth the money all on it's own, and although it is not as good as Born to Perform, I think that some of the effects are very good - especially those ones involving the Bertram Change - I actually blow my own mind when I do this colour change (whilst looking in a mirror).
Also, I really like Oz's personal style - he is an excellent teacher - although the gormless and relatively unimpressed looking female assistants need working on (in more ways than one).

Oh, and yes the menu structure is incredibly irritating.

And another thing! Oz needs a bit of a slap for perpetuating this Bertram change thing. It's not the Bertram change, it's the Tebe change.
