Celebrity Deck - Alakazam

Postby dat8962 » Feb 24th, '05, 23:07

This deck is being launched at Blackpool this coming weekend and it features on the Alakazam home page where they are taking advance orders.

It looks like an interesting effect created by Wayne Dobson but there is no description yet about the effect itself, what it does, looks like etc. This may be because they are waiting for the launch and they don't yet know but if anyone gets this deck, or see's it in action then could you please do a review as it looks interesting.

Thanks

A david Blaine Mentalism Trick

Postby Jeremy » Feb 24th, '05, 23:50

Hey,

I was wanting to know the system used in David Blaine's mentalist tricks. The ones from "Magic Man" where he supplies the pad and then burns the paper. Whatever sytem that is, a review on it would be great.

I know how he does the one where he writes their number down first, and then they pick a number, and it was in fact the one he wrote down. I am wondering about the other ones.

Also I would like to know where to find info about walking up to people, telling them to think of a card and then telling them what card it was. I know there is something obvious about the whole ordeal, but it is lost on me.

I guess I am just looking for good mentalist material.

The key to a lot of David Blaine's TV miracles is that the mistakes and failures are edited out so you only see the times he gets the card right - as if by magic. OK, there's a certain range of cards likely to be thought of at random so he knows those but the tape editor does a lot of the magic.

The one where he reveals something in ash on his arm is a very old effect and you should find details if you search via Google or similar. We can't gve out the secret as it's not ours to give out but it's not something you can buy as such, it's just technique and prepapration.

How about the one where the woman draw a key on the pad, and then folds up the paper and holds it in her hand. He then takes the pad and after a second draws the same shape.

I noticed that he drew his upside down... that’s got to be significant. Mind you, I am not aksing how it is done, just a good place to learn it. i will google it too.
