Hi all!

My name is Dave and I live in Cardiff, South Wales.

I have been reading the forum for a little while and thought I'd sign up so I can vent my enthusiasm towards people who have similar interests and stop driving my girlfriend and friends mad!

I started looking into magic on a whim about 3 or 4 months ago and have just been getting more and more interested in pursuing it.

I have begun working my way through Royal Road to Card Magic and have been buying recommended reads (such as Bobo's Coin Magic, Annemans Mental Magic and Corinda's 13 steps, Mark Wilson's Complete Course) which I am holding back on until I am happily through Royal Road. I use Paul Wilsons DVD's alongside the book for a visual aid. I have been learning a few fun and simple street magic tricks for a little fun on the side too as it's nice to deviate from card magic a little at mates parties and it's nice to be familiar with the basic gimmicks and methods.

I am hoping to keep up practice and join the local society once I get better and more connected. Their calendar looks really active and interesting and it seems like a lot of fun too.

If anyone has any comment's or suggestions, please do reply. I am also open to ideas for way to get involved on the forum.

EDIT - I forgot to mention (having spotted Anthony Jacquin commenting on his book here). I have an interest in learning Hypnosis in the future having bought, and read, "Reality is Plastic" and watched the accompanying DVD. It is a great read and very helpful. I had a lot of fun trying Magnetic Hands and Fingers on friends. Not managed a successful induction yet but I have a good idea how it works but I haven't attempted many times. I have been eyeing up courses but lack funds and figured I need to practice more first.

It is a lot of reading and is a little daunting. That's why I figured I'll hold back and just stick to one book at a time. I'm not the most organised person in the world, so I figured I need to keep discipline if I am to learn anything.

since I post now and again (nothing worthwhile, but I'm trying!), I thought I'd actually get around to sticking up an avatar of my boyish good looks so that people might know what I look like come Blackpool or similar events.
