It isn't so much whether a card trick is bad or not so much as whether it suits the personality of the performer. There are some tricks which seem pretty puerile but turn out to be masterpieces in the right hands. And yet there are some card tricks which would seem strong but simply don't suit the performer.
There is some limited truth in the analogy that there are no bad tricks, only bad performers but it isn't the whole story since as I have just stated it depends on whether the trick suits you or not. And despite what I have said I do admit that there are quite a few awful card tricks out there (mainly invented to show other magicians) but there are also an incredible amount of good ones too.
I think Out of this World takes some beating as does MacDonald's Aces (wrongly credited to Mac MacDonald but really invented by Hofzinser).
Do as I do is one of the greatest self working card tricks of all time. I also think Matching the cards is remarkable strong. However there are many, many more.
