The world of theatre is getting behind Great Ormond Street Hospital to help fund two new operating theatres for children suffering from neurological and craniofacial conditions. Stage One has announced a three-year commitment to support the project.
Stage One is joining UK Theatres in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Stage One will be launching the campaign with MAGICAL SHOWTIME, a magic show on 23rd and 24th September.
Director James Neish said: “We all know of people in Gibraltar who have been touched by the work of this hospital and it is a privilege to able to be part of this worthwhile project.”
Some of the children at Great Ormond Street Hospital experience a very different type of theatre. An operating theatre has lights, and there is often drama but their doctors and surgeons perform life-saving operations every day. Theatres for Theatres is an exciting three-year initiative to raise £4million to help fund two new state-of-the-art operating theatres at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The theatres will be used to treat children who have complex and often life-threatening neurological and craniofacial conditions. Demand for neurosurgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital already outstrips current capacity and over the next ten years even more referrals from other hospitals are expected. These new facilities will mean that more children will get the specialist treatment they need and that the Neurosciences Team will have the world class facilities to enable them to further their pioneering research and treatment programmes.
Magical Showtime will be staged at the John Mackintosh Hall with performances by local illusionists brother and sister Jordan and Shailah Lopez who make up ‘Faster than Magic’, magician Jamie Zammitt and mentalist Levi Attias. There will also be a special performance by Holland’s most famous magician Hans Kazan. Hans Kazàn is an award winning magician who has been producing his own magic shows for theatre and TV and has hosted many different entertainment programmes, including no less than 850 episodes of Dutch version of the well-known TV show The Price is Right.
• Tickets for the show, at £10, will be on sale from Wednesday 26th August at MH Bland.Full details available at
