Rough Fluid Sprays? Reccomendations Please?

Postby JakeCallaghan » Aug 20th, '09, 23:50

Hi, I'm looking to buy some rough fluid spray to prepare a few decks for the "ID" trick. Any reccomendations as to which is a good spray and of good value for money would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time,

Jake :)

P.S - If you know of a cheap, prepared rough deck that's available online
i'd also like a review please. Thanks!

And for goodness sake make sure you use the stuff a) sparingly, and b) in a well ventilated place! :D

I ust got 2 cans from worldmagicshop.com (£11 quid ish each) and its called "Testors All Purpose DULLCOTE - 1260 Flat Clear Lacquer"

I've had several roughing sprays / fluids, and this is BY FAR the best I've used - it sprays nice and evenly, doesnt "blob" when sprayed and the only reason that you can tell I've used it is because I tested the spray on some old tiger cards (So if you intend to use the spray on black faced cards, bare in mind that it WILL make the face look slightly matt when directly compared to another black faced card). White cards, red or blue bikes for example, are fine though.

If you like I'll send a quick piccy of the blck card, so you can see what I mean?

and not on your hands. I lost a lot of my thumb nail the other week because I couldn't find any gloves to wear!

If you need anything specific making up drop me a PM and i'll see what I can sort out for you. I'm pretty handy with R&S decks.

Custom R&S decks made to specification - PM me for details

That's the stuff Trevor - you'll get THREE tins of ebay for around £15 which includes the cost of postage.

I think the seller was called horsingaround or something similar. Quick service too.

£11.99 for a can of roughing spray is very expensive, even for the larger 6oz can. As dat says, eBay is always worth a look. I paid £4 for a 3oz can, post paid.

Lawrence

NOW you tell me I'm supposed to use gloves!!!!

Luckily I didn't lose any fingers in the using of this stuff.

Dulcote is just fine, place the cards on to a plasctic bag of some kind, spray from about knee height. This is the advice i was given and my first two decks turned out just fine

This question rears its head fairly regularly and one of the answers that generally comes up if the ID is mentioned is "Oh just buy a new one".

How many performances do people expect to get out of an ID? I like to have mine pretty rough, I find it easier to control like that but I know some people prefer the other end of the spectrum.

I probably use an ID 10 or 12 times a week and seem to need to respray every 3 or 4 weeks. This would make buying a new deck every time pretty steep.
