The E-Case

Postby MagicBill » Aug 25th, '09, 09:34

I am sure most of you have seen this by now, but here's the latest from Mark Mason:

Initially I didn't like this - and I am still not sure if I do, but what do other talkmagicers think?

Has the solution been over engineered? I am not sure I like the visuals of the 'switch'. Throw into the bargain a pretty hefty price tag and the requirement of a mercury fold and some palming and it definitely loses some of its appeal to me.

I perform the standard signed card to card case (with a simple palm and producing the card from under the card case) and this always plays strong. I suppose the E-Case is slightly cleaner in the sense that you see the folded up card in the case before it is revealed, but you can't examine the case after the effect.

Anyway, I am sure some of you will love it, but I just don't think it's for me!

i can see how it works, and i think it's nice. It reminds me of his card in wallet, and his shoet device. A logical,( if expensive) extention to the family of card ins.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

For me to consider a purchase worth the money, is if I think it enhances the way I might currently perform a similar effect. As you've already said - you perform a card to case routine that gets strong reactions. On our side of the secrets table, we often get caught up in the new, shiny "thing" that comes out. Think a bit like your audiences.

Will this particular effect play stronger than the one you already perform? If the answer is yes, then you should buy it. If the answer is no, or even maybe not - then it's not worth it.

Odds are, your particular effect would get exactly the same reactions that this one would.

I don't think the effect is worth £99, and a method of doing this on the cheap immediately reveals itself.

If the spectator doesn't engage in the effect,
then the only thing left is the method.

Although slightly different in it`s own way, I am happy using the Extractor, at a fraction of the price, but still killer reactions, Keith.

i much prefer the lewis jones effect, where you hear the card arrive inside the previously empty card case..and you can hand the case to the participant to empty out too...

Not sure if I like this, I think I will just stick to my own version of the trick.
