im new to all this, and a few friends of mine are concerned about a big 'evil thing' trying to break through

i would concider myself pagan/christian (dont ask how that works it just does) and they are all pagan, but they wont tell me anything specific

is this a chat place for real paganism, or a site for card games (i dont mean to offend anyone by that, but if its not for real paganism then i will go somewhere else)

hope you can help

It's not for any form of paganism whatsoever. Did you not even try to read any of the messages posted here?

Beliefs have nothing to do with it - this is a site for discussion of conjuring, slight of hand, illusions and associated types of magic so you won't find anything specifically relating to paganism or any other beliefs. The point being made is that all this is clearly posted at the start of the forum so we're bemused as to why you wouldn't know that when you made your first post.

Excuse me? We already have several members who are dyslexic so we are well aware of the problems. You seem to not understnd that this is not a forum for what you seek. It's a simple as that and nobody's conduct needs to be questioned. Try elsewhere and we wish you every success.

i did and i know it cleared it up for me, you may also like to try typing pagan + forum into a search engine to see if there are any sites of your taste, I'm afraid we mostly talk magic related stuff here your welcome to comment on this.

I maybe not understand dislexia very well, but if that happens to be your problem, then how exactly did you read the posted responses to your inquiry so well? Pardon my ignorence, like I said I do not know enough about dislexia, but I am asking more out of curiosity!?

As much as we're all curious about the big evil thing (no M-I-L jokes please!) I think we ought not to encourage him to give any more details. Those of us who are aware of the trickery used by fake psychics know it can be convincing and very scary in the wrong hands so perhaps some warm thoughts and, if you're so inclined, perhaps a prayer or two in his direction might be worthwhile.

Britain, britain, britain........
Dear, oh dear!
What a lame complaint that is... are we discriminating??? That is like going to a Butchers and complaining they do not sell vegetables! Its just not what we do!
I think corrupt_priest just sounds like he likes to brag about what he is and just wanted to strike up a meaningless conversation!

Reminds me of someone..... hmmm
(Ali G) "Is it cos I is black?"

Make sure you search the net properly next time....
You are the weakest link, goodbye!

I am totally at a loss for words (unusual for me, I know)...

I am not a reasonable authority on Paganism, but I know a little, and I have to say that it is not unreasonable for a member of the public to mis-interpret the 'Talk Magic' forum as being one related to Paganism. After all, magic is part of the building blocks of Paganism.

However, there are big differences... Magic, to Pagans, is generally more 'witches' and 'warlocks' (I use that term loosely, as I know that Pagans despise the term Warlock! Actually, I think a male witch is NOT a warlock, simply a witch, or indeed a priest) than sleight of hand or magic for entertainment.

Paganism is more a religion, a way of life. The Pagan belief in magic is thus that it is possible to use magic to influence your surroundings, control nature and manipulate the physical world—using spells.

Magic, in our context, is used in it's literal term, which is 'something that is unexplained or too complicated to explain, an illusory feat, considered magical by naive observers'.

The word Magic, therefore, is slightly ambiguous, and as such, it is no surprise that corrupt_priest had reason to believe this may be a Pagan related site—without actually READING any posts in the forum.

BUT!

For corrupt_priest to basically mock magic as being 'card games' and then further dive headlong into aggressive debate in territory which he is a guest is quite rude.

May I suggest that corrupt_priest search elsewhere for information on Pagan Magic (Google.com is a good starting point) and let bygones be bygones.

Furthermore, may I also say on behalf of Talk Magic, that corrupt_priest outlines an old adage that many newer users ignore, which is something us 'older generation' had drummed into us at childhood—which is, think before you speak.

More and more we see posts which offend, puzzle, bemuse and—as in this case—cause misunderstanding—because new users simply don't delve around first.

As for the 'discrimination' question—no—you are not being discriminated against at all. You are simply being misunderstood, and further confounding that misunderstanding by being defensive and aggressive.

Peace.

As for the dyslexia comment... does that include the idiotic and annoying 'txt spk' that is saturating the forums?

May I just suggest that you are blessed with having 26 letters of the alphabet on your keyboard–please use them.

I have to say that the first thing that raised an eye brow was the user name - corrupt priest. Is there a subliminal message in here somewhere?

Anyway, I'm off to sacrifice another goat.
