Pete at Edinburgh Fringe 09

Postby pcwells » Jun 9th, '09, 15:19

Hi,

The 2009 Edinburgh Fringe programme is launched tomorrow. The Laughing Horse Free Festival programme went live on Friday.

Once again, I'll be doing a show. I've got a solid two-week stretch this time, at Espionage on Victoria Street - right in the heart of the festival activity!

Details as follows:

MORE MENTAL!
PSYCHIC PARTY GAMES FOR ANY OCCASION

Mentalist Peter Campbell-Wells returns to the good old days of Victorian Britain, when dabbling in the occult was a respectable pursuit of the upper middle-classes until TV ruined everything. Taking the concept of occult parlour games from past to present, he presents a session of psychic-themed party games, ranging from the classics of mesmerism, through spirit communication to his own peculiar take on Psychic Charades. Some of what you’ll see is genuinely weird. A lot of it is utter humbug. But that’s just how the Victorians liked it! Pete’s demonstration is irreverent, manic, possibly irresponsible, and thoroughly interactive.

The show runs each midnight from August 15th to 30th at the Kasbar room in Espionage, Victoria Street.

Hope to see some of you there! :D

I'll also be on the Royal Mile's Family Stage at 5.50pm on the following dates:

Sunday 16th to Tuesday 18th
Saturday 22nd to Monday 24th
Friday 28th to Sunday 30th

Each appearance is a 20-minute slot, and will be different material to my main midnight show.

I've also been invited onto a local radio station during my time in Auld Reekie. I'll let you know details when things are confirmed.

:)

Pete

It's my last show tonight!

I've had a great time. There's a blog of sorts at www.petesmental.wordpress.com.

Long drive home awaits me tomorrow!

Cheers,

Pete

Back home and shattered. But I think a big pub meal is in order to help me readjust to normal life.

Then the diet begins.

Too many scotch pies in Edinburgh...

Hoping to see some of the video footage, sounds like a good show.

Saw Petes show a week past on friday, was a really good turnout of folks but the random drunks popping in and out of the room was quite surreal.

Somehow I managed to hide myself in that Pete didnt pick me for any of his acts.

Was a fabulous show with great audience participation (apart from me) hadnt known before hand that you had changed/altered some of your materials due to the size of venue but you would never have known it. Very well put together.

Hope to see you again but perhaps with a bigger audience which I think would suit your show far better.

Sorry couldnt hang around after the show to say hello but my friend was eager to go hunting

Hi Ronster!

Thanks for the positive feedback!

I had the revised show well hammered into shape by that time - but can't remember whether that Friday was the one in which audiences had been kept at bay by the heavy rain. Most nights, I had a good, friendly turnout.

All being well, there should be some YouTube material online soon. :)
