Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

I think Grimshaw makes a very good point. Why does this debate come up from time to time? Books and DVDs both have their place and each is equally as good as the other. It depends on what one is trying to learn. I own some excellent books and some excellent DVDs. I don't see what all the fuss is about.

To go back to the original question and the pointers in the direction of James Brown, the DVD I have this effect on is "Still fancy a pot of jam?". It has a deck vanish and a lot of other very good stuff, all well taught IMO

Sorry for stirring this one..

I should have put any sources for learning a/ or several deck vanishes.

I like (as has been said) some reading and some DVD an example being mentalism effects I will pick up my corrindas 13 steps and read for hours (even though I have been unable to get my mits in the equiptment for chapter1).

Where as a new slight I find it easier in a few cases to get it of a DVD such as the pass..

I was performing the pass after learning mc donalds Aces without evening knowing it was the pass....I would then go home and read royal road to card magic trying to solve the pass to no prevail.
I then spoke to a magician friend who when I said I could not do the pass informed me that it was what I was using in Mcs Aces so in that case the DVD proved more useful

But again sorry for not askinbg for DVDs and Books, I will check out some of the provided sources...thank you all for your time.
