New species of giant rat discovered...

...deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea. Probably best not to view this if you don't like rats.

I've seen a bigger rat on tv before but he was wearing a baseball cap and talking to a giant gerbil so it might have been some sort of clever tv trick photography. :D

What worries me more than the giant rat is the "toad with fangs".

Can't wait to see someone produce one of those out of a top hat - "Hey everyone, it's Roland...."!

I can't wait until people try to smuggle them as pets because of how relaxed and cute they look.

Too bad we stumbled across it, I'm sure now that we know it is there it won't take us long to destroy them.

It's a Puppy Rat!

Or would this qualify as being a RUS? (Princess Bride)

He would make for an excellent pet but what those explorers weren't noticing (and why the rat was so calm) was the he was the baby and the larger mother rat was right behind them ready to pounce.

(my thanks to Steven Spielberg for that image)
