Liquid Metal

Name:Liquid Metal
Price: £16
About it: Liquid Metal is a dvd from penguin. It is a fork bending routine with two stages.
Review:This dvd is good in some ways but bad in others. It is a good trick and it looks as though it gets good reactions but I think when he teaches you on the dvd it seems as if it is going to be really obvious to people how you do it. This might just be me, I don't know. Also you need to have quite strong fingers. Morgan on the dvd says when you first do this trick you should get dominion dinner forks which you can only get in Amerca. Other than that though it is good.
Overall Rating:7/10

Don't worry - that's how it feels with most spoon/fork bending. Done right, though, it works extremely well.
Liquid metal was a bit disappointing for me, compared to Banachek, Kuffs, Bavli etc. I agree - it's a good trick, but when doing metal bending I don't want people to think "that's a good trick".
The way he does the tine bend doesn't make sense - IMO Banachek's one is much more convincing - but I guess it's each to his own.
You can do the routine with most forks eventually, but it's good to start with cheaper forks - which you should be able to get in most countries.

Interesting!

This was my first introduction to metal bending and I love it. I'm aware that some credit is given to Banacheck in this routine but I'm not familiar with his workings, or those of any of the others that you mention (other than what's credited here of course).

I've found the reactions to this routine to be much better than I ever expected and in a lot of cases, not too far removed from some that are shown in the DVD during the street performances. I have to say that I am certainly impressed with this DVD and routine and although I was sceptical about it being obvious before my first few performances, I get SO MANY requests to show this to people who have heard about it and me from others I've shown it to, it can't be that obvious when people are talking about it as much as I'm finding.

I found no problems with the tine bend and those specs who give me feedback afterwards think that this is the most bizare part of the routine - and say that it's a very memorable effect for them. I found that building up the required finger strength was not difficult at all and the bit that needs the strongest effort from you is the corkscrew. Practice will reveal the best technique and after that it's a surprisingly easy move!

Finally, forget the Dominion dinner fork in the UK. After some shopping around the best and cheapest is the smart price forks from Asda - 99p for four. Also, these are EXACTLY the same budget fork that's sold in Wilkinsons so whichever is nearer to you. Same price as well. You'll find these by far the easierst fork to use for this routine AND, they pass the close scrutiny from the specs.

Hope that this info helps and I can't recommend this DVD enough, especially as an introduction to metal bending.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Liquid Metal

I have this trick and have been performing it for about 3 months. Personally I love this effect and I have reached the point where most moves can go undetected. At first I was got very discouraged but many people told me that I needed to keep trying and not give up. So I stuck with it a bit longer and eventually I was able to do it. I would rate the affect about 8 or 9 out of 10 and then level of difficulty about a 6. One word of caution do not buy if you are not willing to put the time and effort into this. Your hands WILL HURT ALOT when you are first learning this amazing effect. If you need any assistance feel free to email me at s_adamson1@hotmail.com
