I concur. Your feeble sponge balls are as nothing compared to my mighty tarot cards.

Good point well made.

So, how could we apply that to something seemingly classically mentalist such as a living or dead test.

I've got an idea but I don't think I should discuss it here as it might count as exposure or at the very least show me up to be a buffoon. Maybe I need to give it some more thought before I tip my hand.

I don't see how simply saying the words 'out of this world' can be regarded as exposure. If I google the words and find a site that tells me how to do ootw then it would be that site that would be exposing.

If I mention DL or Erdnase or French Drop or Elmsley Count then they are the jargon words that we magicians use. Its only exposure if we go on to describe what these terms actualy mean.

People are not stupid. Everyone knows that if they search hard enough in books or on the Internet they could find out how to do any magic trick. They may not find out the exact way that person X performed it but they could probably find a way to do something similar. However, the vast majority of people really don't want to know how any magic tricks work... they know it would spoil the fun so they don't ask and they don't go looking.

The only problem with exposure, as I see it, is when someone reveals the method behind something that is commercially available.

i think this is more about principle, than actual words.

mentioning a move, is in it's self not exposure, because you would have to know how to get ready, execute, and finish that move, plus any following moves to construct the method of the effect.
In the case of the o.o.t.w, this is a fully rounded effect in it's own right.
By atatching the db effect to this, you open up the whole, rather than the part. :)

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

I just found an old copy of Trick Of The Mind Season 1 in my collection and watched the trick....

Very, very well shot and edited and, it's true, there's no way you'd know what method was being used. So, it's my humble opinion that DB's quote at the end "Wow, that was OOTW" is, indeed, an in-joke for us magicans/mentalists... (lame as a previous poster may have stated!)

Watching the 1st season again reminded me how much DB was a breath of fresh air when he first popped up on the scene.

Was reading through these posts again and noticed that there seems to be some debate on wether i 'exposed' or not. So i'll chip in with my 2 cents worth. I carefully reread exactly what i wrote and it is NOT exposure, and as such i stand by my original post :)
