having bought this item before and now rebought it for someone else i see that the sticky see though bit has been replaced with a blue putty.im not a fan of this blue putty and was wondering what else could be used besides magicians wax.

The blue putty I think is perfect for the effect, though admittedly bright, but that is not in issue. The effect is designed for the shock of a spider on the spectator's hand, and so that means to the end is simply one of pragmatism.

However, alternatives are thick black double sided tape that you roll into a ball. Magician's wax would not work at all. I haven't used it but I've heard on other forums that sticky dots are great. I'm after replacement THe Web adhesive myself, so I'm also interested in what the best replacement / alternatives are. I don't know the name of the adhesive used in The Web, but I personally think it's best for the job.
