Shut Up and Shoot Me

Was a bit bored (slow morning) so was reading Andy Nyman's bio on Wikipedia, I never realised he was an actor, let alone in this film.

It's a really funny film and well worth watching (although there is no magic content, well apart from the guys wife disappearing under a statue at the start...).

Which one is Andy Nyman though? Is it the depressed guy that wants to die or someone else?

According to IMDB, he played a character called Colin Frampton.

I haven't seen the movie, so I can't be more help than that - aside from to mention that he seems to have second billing, so it must have been more than a walk-on role.

He was also in Severence, providing comic relief to Danny Dyer's tripped out wide boy. The scene with the bear trap had me in fits of giggles. :D

Severence is a fantastic film. I bought it recently along with Dead Set, Charlie Brooker's Big Brother Zombie tv series, which also starred a certain Mr Nyman as a monsterous tv producer who at various points defectates in a bucket, chops up a dead body to use as zombie bait, and is then torn apart whilst shouting 'f**k you, eat my bowels, they're full of s**t!'

I've developed a little bit of an obsession with Andy Nyman at the moment so I'm working through his back catalogue of acting parts and planning on getting his 'Get Nyman' dvd when it's re-released.

I did not know what Andy looked like smart a**e. :P

It turns out he is the guy who is depressed and looking for ways to die. I saw it in a Czech cinema which was a little surreal. Apart from it basically being a school hall with some chairs put out, the film had Czech subtitles for the english bit and no subtitles for the Czech bits.

Fortunately it is mostly in English and the Czech was mostly swearing which being very childish I was quick to pick up before going to see the film.

I have to admit it surprises me a bit that Mr Nyman is such a "visible" figure. I always got the impression that the "people behind the magician" were quite reclusive, preferring other people to take centre stage as it were.

Back to topic though, completely recommend this film. The scene on the bombing range, although predictable, is absolutely hilarious.

you must remember that Andy considers himself an actor first, and a magician second.

And that the vast majority of the lay public know him in that order too. :)

Without knowing what he looks like at all, I got suspicious about the identity of a certain person I saw in a certain place wearing a "Nyman the Diamond" jacket. A slight clue there, perhaps...

(My suspicions were confirmed when DB wandered over and sat down with him.)
