I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on making a bent quarter or half dollar,

I have an effect for it, but I just need tips on making a bent quarter.

Wrap cloth or other soft material around the coin, firmly hold it in a vice and bend to the required angle with an adjustable wrench, pliers or similar tool. The longer the wrench the easier and more precise the bending operation will be. You can also try tapping it witha hammer until you get to the angle you want. I've never tried bending 'silver' coins but copper ones bend quite easily. If they get bent too much, just place them on a solid flat surface, still covered with cloth, and tap them with the hammer until you undo the 'over bend' to your satisfaction.

If you need to do this a lot, you can buy specific tools. I got one because I don't have a workshop or anything which I could use with a vice and I didn't fancy using my lovely new dining table.

It works very well and, if need be, you could produce dozens of bent coins in minutes, although I think you could get a more even bend using the methods Mandrake suggested.

Coin Bend

I am not really sure what exactly the Television bend is but, if you are looking for a prop that will aid you in the bend as stated above you could just wrap it in cloth and use pliers or a vive, but if this is a effect that you plan to do very frequently I would recommend purchasing a Boa Coin bender, you can keep this in your pocket and it allows you to bend very quickly so you can perform it on the streets.
