So...what is your favourite type of cheese?

Got to be cathedral extra mature chedder for me...can't beat that

Cathedral Cheddar is nice but not in my top three.. I'd go for:

1. Stilton
2. Wensleydale
3. Red Leicester or a Gloucester

Foreign:

1. Roule
2. Port Salut
3. Smoked Bavarian
4. Danish Blue

So, in a sandwich with pickle, with crackers, or melted on toast???

The only ones that I would put in a sandwich are the Wensleydale, Red Leicester and Gloucester. None with pickly though.

The bread would be crusty and I'd have red onion marmalade and posibly some grapes and/or celery.

I'd hae the Roule on toast but the rest only on crackers, again with grapes, apple, celery and red onion marmalade. The Prince of Wales estate (can't remember what it's called) does a really good onion marmalade that was on sale through Sainsbury's and while you're there try his Victorian chutney.

As for drink - not keen on port so it wold be a good Merlot for me!

I think you are all missing the point. Everyone knows that the best kind of cheese is any cheese that you put in a bacon sandwich to give a little bit of an extra kick.

That would be wasting a good cheese and it would spoil a good rasher of bacon too :lol: You'll be telling us next that you grate your cheese :shock:

Only one thing for a bacon sandwich and that's HP, Chop or Daddies brown sauce.

Yum. I feel a trip to a supermerket on the way home tonight is on the cards :lol:

Agreed, oh and BINGO!

Cathedral City is always on offer in Tesco, that and Pilgrims Choice.

I prefer mature cheddar normally.

tesco often have a lovely cheddar from the lake district on offer. I am rather partial to it.
Its not as acidic as some of the stronger cheddar's can be.

Wensleydale has got to be near the top of the list, goes really nicely in a carbonara for anyone who wants to try.

Feta is lovely in a sandwich with some sundried tomatos

I like Fetta, but sometimes it can be a little salty

which is probably why it works with tomatoes. :)

What's it called?

Ironically I just had some Cathedral City Mature cheedar sandwiches for lunch, oh with ready salted crisps mashed in to it as well as an act of sacriledge.
