Hi all,

I saw this DB effect and I had an idea for my own version of it, but I just need something clearing up first.

I will stress I'm not asking for any methods, I'd say I've got 50% of it but I just need a little help on the rest.

If anyone can provide a lead or a hint on how to get more info e.g. an author, a publication, a gimmicked deck etc then that would be great.

I hope thats not asking too much, as I would prfer to find out more myself - being told is too easy!

why not just come up with your own method and style, based on this effect instead?

you dont "really" need to know how this is done...you'll probably get people pm'ing you the method though...sadly....

its not a released presentation and effect as such, though what you need is readily available...

This is eerie, I wanted to ask the exact same question (I'm assuming the 50 % you worked out was the verbal force) and as it happens I managed to create and perform a slightly weaker effect I had in mind this very night (hence all the posts, the gig went well and I brought a celebrateory bottle of whisky leading me to feel that I should share my opinions online which always leads to trouble as well as long posts) So now I have to ask; are you my subconscious? Have I been posting questions in my sleep?

The exact method for the verbal force used in this effect can be found in Derrens Pure Effect. Its on pages 136/137 from his routine 'Plerophoria'. Only thing is, if you dont have acces to the book it can be quite expensive to buy

Or you can buy the video lecture. This is the one I mean. It includes the same effect, and you get to see it demonstrated too.

I always thought that DVD was a massive con.

45 quid and you get some old performance footage and one trick explained.

To be specific and to save the OP some cash, the effect Plerophoria as in the trick in the Pure Effect and the lecture DVD is NOT the trick that was done in the video the OP was asking about. And the verbal force of the 7 of hearts is not performed as written in the book.

I didn't think it was, and now just had to go and look it up to check.

You can actually buy the DVD for a fair bit less than £45, but it's a fair point that only one effect is actually explained. A casual glance at the adverts suggest you'll learn half a dozen effects, but you'll just see performances of them.

That said, Lift has a lot of potential and many people here (particularly those in the Mentalists Only forum), will be able to suss out what's going on and adapt the technique for themselves.

Off topic, but a demo of Smoke's method is on The Devil's Picturebook DVD/tape. I've no idea if any of the other methods have been published (officially).

The effect in question has already been discussed in detail on the forum. Not in too much detail I might add. No methods. I will agree with what has been said at the top of this thread about putting more thought into it . If you are experienced then you will figure it out. I perform it on a regular basis and the card is different each time. No verbal force.
