Hello from Ottawa-Gatineau

I've always been interested in magic but I've never had the time to invest in all of the fundamentals since I also practice guitar and other things.
After a recent trip to Vegas (including taking in the Penn and Teller show), I visited the houdini magic shop in the mgm grand and came upon a demonstration of the floating/ufo/helicopter card trick. I had seen this done online before and I always thought that if I just learned that trick, I'd feel some satisfaction in learning magic.
Anyway, I bought it and signed up here to find out what others have done with threads. Maybe I'll learn a thing or two about developing short routines for party tricks.
