I think most of those comments were metaphorical. We're talking about the end to whatever credibility and political career the man has - not the end to an actual life.

Ironic that Griffin is now complaining that too much of the focus was on him and the BNP and that Question Time didn't follow the established format of discussing the week's pressing issues. That's something I think most people would agree with. But I think Griffin should be grateful for a narrow escape, as I doubt he could weigh into a varied debate with any real gravitas.

It may sound like an over the top reaction. But I'm under no illusion, that no matter how hard they try to appear like they a normal political party and have dropped the "we're not a racist party" or "we don't want to kick out all foreigners" stance, they are the same old thugs from days of old.

They will use any tool or devise they can to get heard, and will remove those same rights to their opponents if they ever get executive control. We should never forget that.

He is now bleating that he did not get a fair hearing. Well if nothing else I think it shows monumental political naivety. If he thought he was to going to be asked how the BNP would solve the world financial crisis, or get the postal strike sorted out he's a bigger idiot than I thought. I know what his 'solutions' would be.

If they are putting themselves along with their views forward as the superior Übermensch that are going to lead us all to a better future, then god help us. The last lot that tried that were professionals and look how that ended.

Anyone thinking that Griffin dug his own grave is seriously mistaken.

From the BBC web site
Meanwhile, an opinion poll carried out after Mr Griffin's appearance suggests 22% of voters would "seriously consider" voting BNP in a future local, general or European election.

What makes this really miserable is that either I'm apathetic come voting time and the BNP creep in, OR, I have to vote for Labour or the Tories. None of those appeal to me in any way :(

Agreed.

But I'm now of the opinion that it's the opposition that's the important party.

The government will always put the interests of big business and well-heeled lobbyists before the electorate - regardless of what name they go by or what they claim to represent.

Parties in opposition can be truer to their election manifestos.

So what's most useful is to have a strong opposition party that can take your side when holding the government to account.

Pete

I don't agree with a single word N Griffin says. Mrs G on the other hand has a lot to recommend her.

What Nick's missus thinks about him: Clicky It explains a lot.

This is my last word on the topic, I promise. It's the only subject in the world that gets me all shouty and ranty.

I must have missed the parts about using baseball bats but I do agree with the point made.

Politics has in itself now become a business not only at home, but more so across Europe. MP's have mostly forgotten why they have been voted into office and most aspire to the idea of being like a high flyer company executive with all of the perks.

You only have to look at Blair whose in now making a reputed £7 million a year out of his other interests aside from politics. Politics now equals wealth and the higher you go the more wealth you will have. Screw the people who put you there - they no longer matter.

The country, particularly those paying tax that supports this system are plain fed up with the suituation. Over the past 12 to 18 months the majority of us on here will have felt the financial strain in some shape or form whether it was fuel increases, tax increases, lowering of public services etc. Lot's of us have had to tighten our belts but when you see and read about public money being wasted and squandered in such huge amounts the population in rightly angered.

Hard working people are fed up to the back teeth with paying more taxes for less benefit and then seeing their taxation GIVEN away needlessely, particularly to a Federal Europe who we know dislike us anyway.

What we have in mainstream politics today is an inability to deal with these and many more topics of public concern and that's precisely how parties such as the BNP gain in power.

I agree wholeheartedly. I am of the opinion that regardless of who wins the general election, we will all end up getting screwed, anyway. It matters not a jot who is in power because they are all in it to screw the rest of us, be under no illusion. This is not just my opinion, it is fact and history proves it. The question is, do I go out and vote for one of the main parties, or do I allow the BNP to advance ever closer? And what Iain said about turds is spot on.

And anyone who thinks the expenses scandal was a one-off is living in cloud cuckoo land. It's the tip of a very large iceberg and just the one we know about.

Here's interesting. Some of the BNP's own members have been criticising their dear leader's sweaty attempt at Question Time on their web site's odious forum. However, many of the comments have mysteriously disappeared. :?

As if by magic?

I think it would have been much better viewing for the British public if Nick Griffin had made an appearance on BBC's Who do you think you are instead of Question Time.
