Renegade Downloadable

Postby HappyJack » Nov 4th, '03, 22:04

Hi there...
I am pretty new to all this magic stuff through the internet and have just recently got myself some wizard & svengali cards with how-to books.
I was looking at the Penguin site and saw the Renegade trick for sale as a downloadable trick! Apparently it is pretty sraight forward to do!
Has anyone done anything like this and was it worth the $5.95 that they charged? And did you require to make any or buy any new equipment aswell?

Cheers

H.j.

Hi welcome to the board.

I have recently downloaded a number of tricks from Penguin. Once i get a chance to have alook at them I will review . renegade was one of them.

My esteemed friend and fellow Magi Siege has downloaded a number oftricks from Penguin as well and speaks very highly of them.

Cheers

I had a quick look at this and it seems good - if it can be done with any deck then it's a winner. Not sure whether all those 'mixing' moves are genuine or rigged but it looks similar to another effect where the same sort of upsdie down mixing takes place but you need to set the deck first.

Bearing in mind that this is in the Instant Download category, I was amused to see one other Instant Download, Matrix Remixed, was 'Out Of Stock'. How can such a downloadable electronic document be out of stock?!!

It's a bit like a guy I saw at a Summer Fayre a few years ago - he had three dartboards and the idea was to pay for 3 darts, score over a certain figure to win. Towards the end of the event he was advertising his stall by saying, 'Last few darts, get 'em while they're here...' and similar stuff. And some idiot people were flocking to pay because they hadn't stopped to think over what he was actually saying!

(P.S. I was one of the idiots and scored a miserable 43 - double twenty, a single three and part of the stall next door!)

General note about the Penguin Downloadable tricks
All of these effects are excellent, well taught - and accessible by a majority of reasonably experienced magi.

Oz Pealman (the Penguin Demo dude) does most (if not all) of the explanations, and even goes into depth about 'odd' moves used.

I can readily recommend all of them - however, some other materials may need to be purchased (gaff cards, tape, glue etc.) which means don't expect to do all of the effects right away.

As for the Matrix Re-minted... I've got it on good authority that this effect has been suspended due to copyright issues... although several copies were actually bought and paid for previously.

It's a great effect, worth waiting for.

I just went and watch the demo video and was able to figure it out. This trick can be done with any deck of cards and is completely impromtpu. This in my opinion is a great version of a walk around Triumph routine. For any help or advice post, PM. or email me at s_adamson1@hotmail.com

Its a great trick and if you like that trick I also recommend Do as I do from penguin both are great impromptu tricks that can be done with any deck of cards.

It is a version of a triumph routine but it uses a shuffle that is easier to do in a stand up or street magic situation.
