Favourite Gimmicked Card Effect

Postby bananafish » Sep 28th, '04, 10:23

What is your favourite effect that uses cards. These can be any cards, gimmicked or otherwise.

JB Magic's Matchbox, because of its ease, its clarity and its wow factor. Not too badly priced too!

The stripper, wizard and miracle deck are all tools MagicDiscoMan. do you have a favourite effect you do with them?

I think my current favourate effect withcards would have to be Michael Close's "One for O;Brian". It's been getting some great reactions and definitely worth carrying that extra deck for...

Minds in Focus, Twisted Sister and the all time classic ID esp when used with thought transmitter.

Bill Goldman's Monkey in the Middle. Great effect, quick, and easy to do. Uses a couple of mildly gimmicked cards. Great idea and looks impossible if you don't know the secret. A big plus is that you openly (and reasonably in the audience's mind) remove the gimmicks at the end so you finish with a regular deck.

Favourite Gaffed Card Trick

Postby S_adamson1 » Mar 6th, '05, 00:15

Probably my favourite trick that I often perform in my walkaround routine would have to be Public Transit by Jay Sankey. For a Demo Video look at Penguin. It is the easiest travelling hole with a signed card Ihave come across and leaves the spectator with a great souvenir. This is not one of those effects where you pretend to punch a hole threw a card with a hold already punched you really go threw the card. Lately I have been trying to aviod using gaffed cards, but some of my other favourties include red blue double backer, blank face used in (Painters Nightmare), and I also use a cigarrette or pen through card occasionally. For any advice or comments email me at s_adamson1@hotmail.com

I use Twisted Sisters quite a lot (with a slight mod to make the EC more effective).

It always goes down well

My favourite pack trick is the nudist deck. I always begin with this effect because I've used it so much I cannot go wrong with it. I have a good story to it (my own) and the killer, when all the cards go blank again at the end has caused people in a pub to drop their drinks on the floor. I had one woman say to me, "A few hundred years ago they would have burnt you at the stake for that"

AndyG. I use the Emsley with one packet and the Jordan with the other just to put the face up cards in a different place in the packet. What's your twist on the Twisted Sisters :? You can PM me 8)

Favourite gimmicked card trick?...

Postby Bisonkid » Mar 16th, '05, 07:12

In terma of pure mental freak-out value, the Brainwave Deck is the purest confusion available in my opinion.
Presented with some patter about suggestion and claiming that your patter will force them to the card you have pre-selected I have ALWAYS got a major reaction to this one...!
I don't ever reveal the red back in blue deck ending (or vice versa) - it is a pointer to the method - just put 'em back in the box and let people discuss it.

You can even get away with re-performing - I have NEVER had anyone notice the colours are different (if you know what I mean)!!

You know, if you were to use an ID rather than a brainwave, you could perform this without the need to "not mention the backs".
The cards are face out too, which makes for a more powerfull effect when presenting it your way.
