Any tips on the Classic Pass?

Postby morrowsean » Oct 27th, '09, 13:49

Hi everyone, I'm currently learning the classic pass. I was advised to learn it later on as it's a difficult move, but after seeing it done, it's a must to include in my ACR. I've got the movement down pretty well now, just need some help to make it look more natural and to hide the move a bit more. I want to learn the handling which makes a face up car look like it's jumps to the top like in many ACR routines. I've mastered the turnover pass and have noticed it has much more cover than the classic. Any tips please?

yes. Stop trying to make in invisible, and put a little more into the misdirection.

Have you had someone else look at it?
I say this, because you will never ever not see the move, because you will always know when you do it.

you might also find that a cover pass suits you better in an acr, because the spectator is then looking Down on the deck, not across .
So you can then do it, without any other odd moves.

but seriously, dont try to perfect the move... perfect the misdirection.

( and the move where the card visibly jumps, is more of a colour change, than a pass) :)

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

I agree, in my finite wisdom. I often wonder if the real reason this sleight used to be held as so vital to a card magician's progress wasn't its usefulness but because it forces the need for misdirection on its students.

If the spectator doesn't engage in the effect,
then the only thing left is the method.

Don't use it as a card control, it has other better uses...
