Best Cards For...

Postby cosmarchy » Oct 25th, '09, 22:11

What are the best cards for performing flourishes like card springs?

Sounds a strange question I know but when ever I try to do one the cards bend as they hit the receiving hand and causes the following cards to bounce out of the hand going every where!!

I am certain that I am not adding anymore pressure than the guys in the videos are showing so I was wondering whether any particular cards are better than others for this type of thing. Whenever I see this the cards are always laying flat in the hand (as should be) but mine still have a bend in them (those that make it to my hand!!)

evening.

hmm im not sure that the cards you use make any difference, certainly not if your using regular bikes.. ive also had trouble doing the spring from hand to hand, they just jump around everywhere.. but keep trying im sure you will get it-- remember its a skill and a knack ;)

Hi Cosmarchy. Any decent brand of cards can be used for springing. As mentioned above regular Bicycles will spring perfectly well. Whatever brand you usually use should be the the ones you learn the spring with. The bend your talking about will be there to some degree no matter what cards you use - you have to take it out yourself with an upward riffle after the spring

Its mostly down to practice, any cards should work but you may want to break them in a bit, a few riffle shuffles should work. What a lot of people forget is the catching hand, make it like a cradle bending the little finger inwards so it acts like a barrier and tilt you hand towards your body slightly, as you improve you can play with the grip more.

Thanks for your help guys.

I did think that would be the case but thought better to ask just in case there was something in the cards (so to speak!)

I shall get back to practicing.

Thanks again :)
