As for any threadwork you need practice in using loops!
In 99% of all cases when people tell me that their thread is to weak the real reasons for problems are deficient techniques and insensibility resulting from lacking practice.

It's the same thing when people tell me that they can't do some card moves because of their hands beeing too small, ... :roll:

The Mesika loops may be expensive and you can find an other way of building your own ones, ...
... but their strongness is not the problem.

I will certainly persevere as I like some of the effects demonstrated on the 'Guerrila Loops' DVDs and feel I will get a good response from them in the right circumstances. Don't mind looping them myself using JamesJoystick's of someone elses method, just need them to be more robust and reliable!

here's a tip for you:

After you do the loop, stretch the loop to it's maximum and hold it there for a bit. You should always stretch the IT before you use it, it wont snap so easy.
Same with muscle training!

I tried your technique but to be honest, found it too fiddley and have gone back to using the STEALTH jig. Good on you for finding working it out and sharing though.

Whatever works the best for you!
I'm terrible with knots and strings at general but this one I can do in 5 seconds. Maybe because there is really no serious knots going on.

The method I taught in my IT Lectures simply used
2 bits of selotape to create a grip each end.
There was a tie explained in the Linking Ring some years back.
I believe Ben Harris used to tie round a tumbler.

I use this a lot. Its very good and simple to do; I can make any size knots I like, and because I use P.E.T 2.0 the loops themselves are very, very invisible.

Im always surprised to see everything that can be sold in magic, but to spend money on a video to teach you how to tie a knot on a tread is kind of absolute waste.

Most tread worker already have the habit to place wax on each extremity, once your tread is cut with 2 ball of wax, to tie a knot is pretty obvious in my opinion.

All you have to do is to place your hand in middle, make a loop... and tie.

But then maybe im wrong and the scout camp did help me more then i think at tying knots.

Well, I saw your video and gave it a try, while sitting on the sofa. Funny thing: my wife next to me, did not realize what I was doing... I have no idea how to utilize this but it might be possible to make a loop in front of the audience.
