I first got the magic virus back in college (about 13+ years ago). With the help of hundreds of books, VHS videos and a generous magic community (Raleigh, North Carolina, US) I got good enough to do magic while I bartended and even landed a few table-hopping gigs.
Then I graduated and got a "real job" with a software company. More and more magic found itself in storage. Few decks felt the joy of being the center of astonishment and eventually the TT and 50-cent pieces never made it to my pockets.
I missed magic and it missed me.
Last July the bottom fell out, I lost my job as Director of the same software company and found myself behind the bar again trying to pay my bills. The best part, I pulled books out of their cardboard coffins and dusted off my DLs, Palms, shuttle passes and rubber bands.
I forgot how much fun it is to show people that their card is under their beer and their dollar is now mis-made.
When I started magic there was hardly an internet. Now I have places like this to bounce ideas with.
Thank you for being here and thank you for helping me clear the dust and scrape off the rust.
