omni deck use

Postby KingJeux. » Dec 4th, '09, 03:06

Hey so this is something that I feel has potential but can't seem to come up with a good use for it. I'm thinking of something like switching it in after they've shuffled the cards (as they are showing their chosen card around). I would have one card on the bottom of it and a few on the top to simulate a deck with some overhand shuffling. I was then thinking about pretending to be wrong a few times before giving it to them to hold (at this point just being the deck and their card on top)... looking around flustered then making some comment about them being able to 'see through' the magic and opening it to find the deck is glass except for their card?

This might work but I havent tested it out much. Any other ideas?

The most simple, and most powerful thing to do with an Omni Deck is a basic deck switch. Invite them to reach in and take a card and ask them to sign the card. As you reach into your pocket to get your marker, you can do the deck switch then, just retaining 1 card from the deck (you will find it happens naturally anyway). When you bring out the omni deck you will have 1 card on top of the gimmick which allows you to do a bit of a tilt sequence.

I wouldnt worry about having to trying to prive the deck is normal - you already did this when you asked them to select a card.

Hope that helps - give me a PM if you need any more help

Mark

I personally like doing James Brown Psychological deck vanish to actually swap in the omni deck.
This means the cards can be shuffled, spread, do the deck swap(Psychological deck vanish) and place the card used to perform the move onto the omni.

this is all part of my reworking of Bill Abbotts Ctl, alt, del card effect which I very much like

What about a Blizzard-type effect using an Omni Deck instead of a blank deck? Not sure how practical this would be; just thinking out loud.

If anyone is interested, I will type up my way of doing the deck switch and put it in the Restricted area.

Any takers?

I am interested but do not have access to said forum. Please PM it to me if/when you do the write up. I understand if you don't feel comfortable PMing it.

you can use that ghost glass 2 liquid as a double kicker...

card is selected...back is signed...lost in deck...

blah blah blah

deck turned into the omni...
the signed card is now blank faced
you breath on the omni deck...their card's value and suit appears..

I saw somebody do a weird effect with an omnideck...it was purely to impress magician's...

The magician says "I have an ID!"...cue inevitable groans from other magicians...

A card is named, the magician puts the deck into the spectators hands and bladdeeebla...the deck is an omnideck with the acception of the named card.

"I want to do magic...but I don't want to be referred to as a magician." - A layman chatting to me about magic.
