I'm back. Did you miss me? Did you even notice I was gone?! I used to read through the forums daily (and contribute the odd post here and there), but things sort of got in the way and I haven't been on here in months.
Since I left I've started studying English at Aberdeen Uni, much to many people's horror/inability to comprehend! Alongside this I've started presenting a radio show on the student radio, and am a regular contributor to the student newspaper. My music website has grown from strength to strength, and things are generally looking up int eh world.
But I know none of you care about that stuff. So here's the important developments: about 2 weeks ago, I performed walk around at my local magic club's fundraiser. It was incredible. Up until then I'd performed at school things, and for bands who'd invited me to my gigs. Friendly audiences, who knew what to expect. This fundraiser was in conjunction with a youth drama group, who pulled in most of the crowd, so it was really my first experience performing to 'Joe Public'. How cool, and what a chance to hone some of my material. Then, just two nights ago, I performed at my first ever paid magic gig doing tables at a 'bring a party to a party' event. What can I say, I've got a taste for performing now! I realise it may be a bit rich to put my 'magician status' as 'Semi-Pro' after one paid gig, but I do so on the advice that a wise man once gave me:
Wise Man wrote:An amateur shows lots of tricks to the same people. A professional shows the same tricks to lots of people.
It's good to be back.
