For years I have had to listen to magicians saying that Vernon was not a good performer for laymen and that he was only a magician's magician.

That video should finally give the lie to it.

I have always known how good Vernon was for laymen since I saw him nearly 50 years ago on a British television programme which may possibly have been produced by Harry Stanley. I think the title may have been "Focus on Hocus" but I could have my facts wrong. I think it was a 30 minute show on black and white television

Vernon performed along with Slydini and Cy Endfield and did beautiful practical magic that would be appreciated by laymen as well as magicians.

He had a charismatic and warm personality as well as being in possession of great technical perfection.

The very same footage is on Michael Ammars Complete Cups and Balls Vol 2. Great clip.
Incedently, apparently this is far from his best performance :) a true master indeed.
