Game Help

Postby Craig Browning » Dec 11th, '09, 05:21

Ok, here's the situation. I had to remove MOH Airborne a few months ago but now, in trying to load it back onto the old PC it don't seem to want to cooperate... I type in the ID number and it starts the load bar and then shuts down... NOTHING!

I've gone to EA Games to no avail and hope that someone here might recognize this scenario and know how to over come it.

BTW... I did try to do a Manual Install but this game will not allow you to access the autorun.exe file for some reason.

Last time we spoke about your PC you had a virus. Perhaps that's the cause of your problem.

Craig, this isn't an exposure site. We can't give out that kind of information.

As Kolm mentioned, if you're still virus-infected, anything might be happening.

Assuming you're not, it sounds like it didn't completely erase itself the first time. All I can suggest is a deep-cleaning program like Registry Mechanic (which I use and like). It might scrub the odd leftover bits out of the registry and let you install clean.

I really hope your tongue is deep in your cheek as you say this

No, it's not the virus that's the problem, Microsoft and a handful of other support sources helped me get rid of that issue (in no small part, thanks to some info shared here).

When it comes to PC's and all this techno stuff, I'm a total dummy. As to that previous scenario, I simply type in what I'm looking for and find the sites that have it, I'm not seeking out any kind of illegal distribution site. In the previous instance I was looking for the American version of a UK show and could only find the latter, this is how I ended up on that particular site. I've sense done some footwork and discovered just how cruel such facilities can be... oi!

No, everything is clean on my PC. I've taken all the suggested steps by EA Games for preparing the PC for installation. I've attempted a manual installation as well as the standard automatic installation methods only to meet with the same exact results; the program closes down almost as soon as it begins to load... and before you ask, I don't have any kind of clone software on my PC... so I'm rather frustrated, especially in that this same game has been on this same machine and ran problem free. :?

when it comes to computers I find that shouting at them and giving them a good kick tends to help :D

If you want American TV over the net, you can't go wrong with Boxee. It's the only thing you'll ever need to download (except perhaps a couple of plugins). You can have my assurances that it's 100% legal and 100% virus free

this same game has been on this same machine and ran problem free. :?

Has anything changed since? Installed new hardware, software, etc?

hey craig,
try the following:

Solution #1: Try manually installing the PhysX driver. It's on www.ageia.com/drivers/drivers.html and THEN try installing the game.

Solution #2: Go to control panel, add or remove programs, and uninstall anything related to: Medal of Honor, PhysX, or ageia. If those words are in the title/description anything, remove it. Reboot computer. Try installing now.

Question: Are you using an Nvidia graphics card?

Anyways those are my tidbit ideas. May or may not work.

 I get real nervous when it comes to removing anything I don't understand... :?

For me a PC was little more than a glorified typewriter until a couple of years ago, when I was introduced to QUAKE and Star Wars games

I'm trying a couple of things at present, will let you know how I fare...

Is MOH Airbourne powered by Steam? If it is it could be something daft like you're not signed into Steam and it is seeing the game ID as already registered and not letting you use it. Though it should tell you that.

If not, check that all your drivers and such are up to date. Removing games can, occasionally, take drivers with it if you do a complete uninstall.

Check you have the right DirectX, that your graphics drivers are up to date etc and run a virus and spyware scan, check that the CD isn't damaged and try again.

See how that goes :)
